Cookie Policy
Last updated: March 2026
Orbtium uses cookies minimally and intentionally. We do not use advertising cookies, third-party analytics, or any cross-site tracking technology. This page describes every cookie we set and why.
1. Cookies we use
We set exactly one cookie:
This is an HTTP-only, Secure, SameSite=Strict cookie. It cannot be accessed by JavaScript and is only transmitted over HTTPS. It contains a random session token — not your email, not your encryption key, not any personal data.
2. What we do not use
We do not use:
- Google Analytics or any third-party analytics service
- Facebook Pixel, Google Ads, or any advertising pixel
- Hotjar, FullStory, or any session-recording tool
- Intercom, Segment, or any customer data platform
- Any cookie that persists beyond your session or device
The only external request your browser makes is to Google Fonts (to load the Inter typeface). This request is made from your browser directly. Google Fonts does not set cookies in our implementation. If you prefer to block this request entirely, you can use a browser extension such as uBlock Origin — the app will fall back to system fonts gracefully.
3. Why we need the session cookie
The session cookie is strictly necessary for the Service to function. Without it, you would be logged out on every page load. It is the only mechanism we use to authenticate your requests to the API.
Because this cookie is strictly necessary, we do not require consent to set it under the UK PECR / EU ePrivacy Directive. However, you may delete it at any time by signing out of your account, which also invalidates the server-side session.
4. How to control cookies
You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings. Links to instructions for common browsers:
- Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
- Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
- Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
- Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions
Note: if you delete the orbtium_session cookie, you will be signed out. You can sign back in at any time. Your encrypted data is not affected.
5. Changes to this policy
If we ever introduce additional cookies — which we do not anticipate — we will update this policy and notify you by email and in-app notice before any new cookie is set. We are committed to maintaining this minimal, privacy-first approach.
